I sure love Denzil’s challenges! This week he’s asked us to find black in nature. At first I didn’t think I’d find any as black isn’t a color I normally photograph. I’m usually drawn to other colors. But I did find some and I hope you will enjoy!
Some butterflies at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in southern Florida. There is a butterfly building and my friend and I enjoyed our time there.

Here’s one that is hiding. Can you see it?

Here’s another from Florida when I was visiting my mother years ago. I’m not sure the name of the bird and it’s not the best photo I’ve ever taken but I was happy to capture him spreading his wings as well as the reflection.

My cat Fritz in the garden amongst the lilies of the valley. That counts as black in nature right?

A black turkey at our state fair. Not really in nature but I like this black turkey:

How about a huge turkey that was just strolling down my street one day?

This is one of my favorites as it shows the wild black raspberries with one still yet to turn black. It’s fun to see the transformation as I walk by them nearly every day. My cover photo is another view of the wild black raspberries that are ready to pick.

So much fun. The wild black raspberries look delicious. Is that a cormorant in Florida?
They do, don’t they? It might be a cormorant, yes!
Very nice. Pick that blackberry! It looks delicious!
It does look delicious! Thanks for looking 🤗
Your cat is so beautiful ❤ I think the bird is either cormorant or anhinga.
Thanks! I think that bird could be either cormorant or anhinga, yes!
Now what was that turkey doing in the middle of the road? An escape from a local farm? Thanks for your black images Toby, that butterfly is particularly stunning.
We have wild turkeys around here. And I learned in the last year that my neighbor has been feeding them so of course they’re going to come back. I liked that butterfly too! Thanks for another really challenging challenge 😊
Thanks for your continuing enthusiastic contributions Toby!
No, no, thank YOU for these fun challenges! It’s fun to put them together and then also to view other great photos from others. Win/win!
Thanks Toby! :)
What a sight to see a turkey walking down the road, love your picture :)
I know right? It was a surprise to me too. Thanks for your comments.
